NFL analyst Lance Zierlein projected Daley to be drafted in the fifth round, so this is a solid value pick by the Panthers. He’ll definitely compete for the backup swing tackle position during training camp and could be a valuable asset to the offensive line. Here are his combine measureables and his strengths and weaknesses, according to NFL.com:Combine measurementsHeight: 6-foot-5Weight: 317 lbsArms: 33 3/8 inchesHands: 9 1/2 inchesCombine results40-yard dash: 5.20 secondsBench press: 20 repsVertical jump: 26.5 inchesBroad jump: 103.0 inches3-cone drill: 7.95 seconds20-yard shuttle: 4.92 seconds60-yard shuttle: N/AStrengthsBroad chest with long arms and big handsHas learned how to re-set hands when neededConfident and resilient in pass setsGood hip roll to help set his anchorAble to absorb opponent’s powerBattle-tested vs Jachai Polite Michael Palardy Jersey , Clelin Ferrell, Deandre Walker and Josh AllenAttempts to maintain pass-set technique regardless of opponentGets out in front of screen passes with good athletic ability in open fieldWell-timed bump-and-climb technique on outside zoneGood angles on drive blocksPotential to hammer and secure his down blocksWeaknessesGets caught napping at snapThere is some turbulence in his pass setsAllows weight distribution to get unevenSlow to turn feet back on once he sits downMajority of pressures come from ill-advised lungesBelow-average recovery at the top of the rushNightmare performance against Josh Allen and KentuckyFrame gets touched up by long-armed opponentsHand placement messy in run game and lacks conviction in pass punchOverextends in initial steps and can’t respond to slants.(Analysis courtesy of Lance Zierlein)What do you think about this pick, Panthers fans? When the Panthers placed quarterback Cam Newton on injured reserve this week https://www.carolinapanthersfanshop.com/Sam-Mills-Jersey , General Manager Marty Hurney said in a statement that Newton would continue following “a program of rest and rehab” for the foot injury that shut him down for the year. That program may wind up unfolding a little bit differently now that Newton is done for the year. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Newton is now considering surgery to address the problem. If he does have the surgery, the recovery timeline is expected to be two or three months. That would likely leave Newton ready to go for offseason work and the question of where he’ll do that work should be a big topic of conversation early in 2020.Newton’s heading into the final year of his contract and the Panthers would create $19.1 million in cap space if he moved on via trade or release. Many expect the Panthers to go that route, but there’s still much to play out before it will be time to make any moves involving Newton.
